The Peninsula Panthers held their annual Awards Dinner on Saturday evening as they prepared to face the Westshore Wolves on Monday night, their 1st Round opponents.

The Peninsula Panthers only played a single game this past weekend however it was a busy one none the less.  On Friday night the Club won their 16th straight home game - they have not lost at home since October 25th - by besting the Kerry Park Islanders 5-1 in a cleanly played affair at the Panorama Recreation Centre.  Both the Islanders who will face the Victoria Cougars and the Panthers who will face the Westshore Wolves knew going into the game who their 1st Round opponents were and so there was very little at stake as they rounded out their Regular Season Schedule.  For the Panthers it was a special night as they wore a Special Edition Valenties Day Jersey and in a post-game on ice ceremony they gifted them to 23 lucky Peninsula Minor Hockey players who were in attendance.

On Saturday night the Panthers held their Awards Dinner at the Glen Meadows Golf and Country Club with several of the younger members taking home the hardware as well as several of the seasoned veterans.  The winners of the Awards were;

Community Leadership Award -  Brett Sjerven (19 years old)
Top Scorer - Connor Logan (17 years old)
Most Sportsmanlike - Jordan Law (18 years old)
Unsung Hero - Cole Glover (19 years old)
Steve Simpson Memorial - Jackson Skerratt (20 years old)
Fan Favourite - Reece Costain (18 years old)
Most Improved - Braedan Pearce ( 17 years old)
Rookie of the Year - Sean Bucanan (17 years old) & Tate Coughlin (16 years old)
Best Defenceman - Sean Buchanan (17 years old)
Most Valuable Player - Matthew Sheeran (20 years old)

Dennis Varga who has been with the Club since 1999 won the Volunteer of the Year Award.

The Panthers will open up Round 1 of the Best-of-7 series Monday night against the Westshore Wolves at home at the Panorama Recreation Centre.  The puck is set to drop at the usual 7:30 pm.

They will then travel to the Q-Centre (formally called Bear Mountain Arena) for Game #2 on Wednesday night and will be right back at the Panorama on Friday night for Game #3.
