Panthers acquire former Captain of the Peninsula Midget AA Eagles

2013-10-09

Playing for the Cougars and surrounded by Peninsula Panthers in a game at the Archie Browning Arena in September, #18 Jordan Law battles for position in front of Panthers Goaltender Stephen Heslop. Law's rights were obtained from the Victoria Cougars early Wednesday evening and he will be in the lineup Friday night at the Panorama Recreation Centre against the Cougars.

18-year-old Forward Jordan LAW was obtained by the Peninsula Panthers this evening in a transaction with the Victoria Cougars.

"I'm really excited to play for the home town team," said a pumped up Jordan Law on Wednesday evening after his rights were obtained by the Peninsula Panthers from their cross-town rivals, the Victoria Cougars.  And for Law, he will not have to wait long to jump on the ice with his new mates as he will board the bus tomorrow afternoon when the Panthers travel up to Nanaimo to take on the Buccaneers in VIJHL action.  But the fun will not stop for Law.  The Panthers will return home on Friday evening and will host those same Victoria Cougars in a game that the young forward is already looking forward to.

"I grew up attending Panthers games as a fan, watching the team play every Friday night so yes, this is pretty exciting for me.  I was not really happy with the ice time I was getting so I am looking at this as a new opportunity and right in the rink where I played my Minor Hockey," explained Law.

The 18-year-old Law, who will wear #21 for the Panthers completed his final year in Minor Hockey in March of this year when he captained the Peninsula Midget AA squad.  He is known for his work ethic and non-stop effort and this is a quality that Head Coach & General Manager Brian Passmore is looking for in all his players.

"We watched Jordan when we played the Cougars last time out and although he did not play a ton, we thought he competed on every shift he was out there.  We watched him take quite a number of draws and he was winning most of them so we will find a sweet spot in the lineup for him.  He will add some depth and that is something we were looking for.  We think that some of our depth and role players have a lot more to show than they have to this point and I expect that we should have a pretty competitive weekend playing the top rated teams in both the North and South Division of the League.  I really happy to have Jordan on board with us."

The Panthers are looking their newest addition to lay down the "Law" on Friday night when Peninsula fans will get their first look a the newest Panthers, but he should feel pretty comfortable now that he is back home.  The puck drops at 7:30 pm.
