BLAZERS SIGN FORWARD NATHAN LOOYSEN

Kamloops, BC – Kamloops Blazers General Manager Craig Bonner announced this morning that the Blazers have signed 17-year-old forward Nathan Looysen to a standard WHL contract.

Looysen, who is from Saanichton, BC, was listed by the Blazers in November 2012 after spending last season with the Peninsula Panthers of the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League. Looysen had 10 goals, 13 assists and 23 points in 27 games last season. He also chipped in with four points in five playoff games.

“Nathan came in under the radar but had a great camp,” said Bonner. “He has earned the opportunity here and we will continue to watch his progress throughout the WHL preseason.”

Looysen is expected to play this weekend as the Blazers open the WHL preseason Friday, August 30th in Kelowna. The Blazers will play their first home WHL preseason this Sunday, September 1st starting at 6:00pm at the Interior Savings Centre.
