Finlay & Richardson have a chat

2012-09-29

Finlay and Richardson - let the good times roll! (Will Finlay on left, Kyle Richardson on right)

The game was under nine minutes old when "Whistler Will" Finlay scored his first of the season for the Peninsula Panthers.

The game was under nine minutes old on Friday evening at the Panorama Recreation Centre but for Whistler's own "Whistler Will" Finlay, it could not have come soon enough....his first goal of the season that is!  Finlay finally got the monkey off his back and perhaps now a more relaxed version of the energizer bunny will start to fill the net for the Peninsula Panthers.

Kyle Richardson was one of the first to chat with a happy Finlay and the following conversation took place;

KR - That was a nice goal Will, it's about time.

WF - Ya, I told them in April when they signed me that I could score, I just didn't tell them how many.....hahaha.

KR - Yes, Armstrong likes it when we score goals and win games.  I know when we lost 1-0 in Oceanside he would have liked you to have scored two in that one.

WF - Ya, well....I was a bit nervous.  I had my Mom and a couple buddies there and my legs felt like cement.  Hey Richie, nice smile.  How many goals do you have by the way??  I've watched you in practice and you might have a hard time hitting the water even if you were shooting a puck off the wharf.  hahahaha!!

KR - Funny William, Armstrong doesn't care if I score, he cares that I make sure I don't cough it up.  Doh, I did cough one up in this game.  Don't be smiling too much Will, if we end up losing this one Zubersky will come in and chew us out.  I know that Heslop has a sore pad after the Victoria game...hahahaha.

WF - Ya, I wish I hadn't been in the lineup that night, either that or I wish I had scored a hatty!  Then I would have even a bigger smile.  I would love to score a hatty against the Cougars, maybe next Friday night at the Panorama.  That'll be a big one.

KR - You always think too much about hockey.  Hey, I heard that Golka and Breitenstein are going to go painballin' tomorrow, that is probably going to be a lot of fun.  Golka told me he was going to nail Breitenstein right between the eyes.

WF - Ritchie, forget about painballin', ya it's a lot of fun but having more fun is when you are scoring goals, I mean look at us two, does anyone have bigger smiles than us?  And it was me that scored Ritchie, can you imagine how big your smile is going to be if you ever get one??  hahahaha.

KR - OK Will, let's get back to business.  Armstrong will bench us if we slack off, but congrats to you Will. "Hey Little Buddy, Good Job.....congrats on your first goal with the Panthers!!  Are we having a great time or what?  Man, I love this team!

WF - Me too, I miss my family, am going to go home for Thanksgiving weekend after next Friday's game against the Cougars but you nailed it Richie, I love it here too!

Finlay's marker on Friday night was the 2nd Panthers goal on the evening and turned out to be the winner in a hard fought 2-1 victory over the Nanaimo Buccaneers.  Rumour has it that he has plenty more in that stick of his.
