Josh Bloomenthal, Kayle Ramsay and Chris McDonald will be playing in the Peninsula Panthers home opener on Friday, September 7th but they will not be wearing the home team colors.  The three former Panthers were moved to the Westshore Wolves who will be playing their inagural season in the VIJHL.

Shortly after the Panthers ended their storybook playoff run in late March, the Wolves brass contacted Pete Zubersky to discuss the possibility of the Bloomenthal and Ramsay being traded.  The pair reside in the Western Communities and had played their entire Minor Hockey careers out in that area.  Zubersky spoke with the two and both indicated a desire to play back where they had developed their hockey roots.  A deal was completed a couple weeks later where the Panthers received cash and other future considerations.

Chris McDonald approached Zubersky in early June and he too indicated an interest to play out of Westshore.  McDonald hails from Sooke and obviously travel was a consideration.  Once again, a deal was completed in short order and McDonald will join the Wolves organization for this coming season.

"There is no doubt that this trio of VIJHL veterans will make an immediate impact on the fortunes of the Wolves franchise," explained Zubersky.  "They are three quality players, have been trouble-free out here on the Peninsula and I felt that they deserved a chance to play hockey in front of the fans that cheered for them as they moved through their Minor Hockey years.  The Peninsula Panthers organization wish all three the best of luck this year and beyond.  All three will be missed."
