The Peninsula Panthers came to terms with the Nanaimo Buccaneers late Thursday afternoon in a deal which sees 20-year-old defenceman Tanner Truswell heading to the South Division with the Cats for cash.  Eighteen-year-old forward Charlie Williams was part of the package heading to the Hub City, however he refused to report and has been released to make room for Truswell.

The 6'1" 185 lbs defenceman hails from Calgary, Alberta and has spent the last three years with the Buccaneers. He anchored their power play scoring six goals and adding eight helpers this season. The Cats were in need of a power play defenceman who could put up some numbers and they might just have found their man. Truswell was the Captain of the Pirate Ship in Nanaimo however the Buccaneers were not going to make the post-season dance and so were willing to clear the deck.

Williams was obtained in September from the Lake Cowichan Kraken and he has decided that he would stay in the Victoria area and start his post secondary education plan at Camosun College. He was a team player and well liked in the dressing room and the Peninsula Panthers Organization wish him all the very best of luck.

Truswell headed down from Nanaimo upon hearing the news and will be at practice with the Panthers this evening.

While there is still 24 hours before the trade deadline will come and go, the Cats are not expected to make further moves unless something unexpected surfaces.  The Club will trot out Truswell this Friday night when the Club plays host to the Westshore Wolves.
