18-year-old Carson Harris might be relatively unknown in the hockey community on the Peninsula but he won't be for long. The talented forward who is big on heart and character was inked Friday night in front of family and teammates.

Dynamite comes in small packages and 18-year-old Carson Harris will be a stick of dynamite and more.  The diminutive and most talented forward has many in the Panthers Organization already calling him the 'H-Bomb' after he was signed to a contract Friday evening at the Panorama Recreation Centre.  Harris who hails from Campbell River had his father Mason and his Grandfather Bill at the signing ceremony to share in the excitement.  The three drove down together for the signing and once the documents were signed, equipment passed out and the some handshakes were completed, the trio jumped in their wheels for the 3.5 hour trek back up the Island Hwy. for home.

"As an Organization we could not be more excited to have added the dynamic youngster," explained Pete Zubersky.

"I have spoken with the family a number of times and am struck by their character.  His parents Mason and Shayleen had a lot of soul-searching to do along with Carson and when they let us know that they would commit to our Organization, we were truly thrilled.  I expect that he will be a huge part of our offence and after watching him several times on the ice, believe that he is a difference-maker.  The Peninsula Panthers just got a whole lot better on Friday night.  He will be a Fan Favourite as soon as the first puck drops and you can count on that.  He is our secret weapon.  He is the H-Bomb!"

Head Coach and General Manager Tyler Stanton worked hard to secure the youngster who played half a season with the Campbell River Storm last season before heading back and finishing his year with the U-18 program in Campbell River.  Harris skated with the Panthers in a two-day camp a couple weeks ago and was an immediate hit with the players and Coaching staff.  And Harris seemed equally excited.

"I’m really pumped to be joining the Panthers family," quipped Harris.  "Being part of this organization and community gives me a fantastic opportunity to grow both as a person and a player. I bring a fierce competitive drive and give my all in every game. It’s really exciting to be playing for a team that has such talented players and coaching staff. And you know what’s really cool? I’ll be wearing the same logo as the legendary Benn brothers. How awesome is that?"

Stanton had some thoughts on his newest recruit.  "Carson brings a charismatic offence to the Panthers. His high value work ethic combined with his speed and scoring ability will be highly counted upon this year. He was identified from playing against us last year, then again this year at camp. We could not be more excited to welcome Carson and his high flying abilities to the Panthers."

For now, fans will have to wait just a bit but late August Exhibition Games and the Regular Season will kick off in early September and will be upon us soon.  And then it will be time to get out the popcorn, sit on the edge of your seat and get ready to watch the H-Bomb in action.
