The 2021/22 VIJHL Champions are looking to run it back this coming season!

The Peninsula Panthers began their quest to repeat as VIJHL Champs on Tuesday night at the Panorama Recreation Centre with Bench Boss Chris Driebergen running the hopefuls through their paces.

Newly-appointed Head Coach Chris Driebergen showed up at the Panorama 75 minutes before the Panthers first ice time this season was set to unfold and if the Panthers players share his obvious enthusiasm, the Club will be just fine.  Driebergen inked a deal with the Panthers in the off-season and he ran 25 young and hopeful potential Panthers through their paces over 90 minutes.  These prospects will have two weeks of camp before they play the Kerry Park Islanders prospects in a pair of exhibition games at 7:00 pm on Saturday August 20th and 1:00 pm the following day.  Both games will be played in the friendly confines of the Panorama Recreation Centre.  Some of the players from the two weeks of Development will move on to the Panthers Main Camp.  The Camp will include home-and-home exhibition games against both the Victoria Cougars and Westshore Wolves.

"We will have some changes to the roster and behind the bench this coming season, no doubt about that," explained Panthers GM Pete Zubersky. "We will miss a couple of our big point-getters and some great depth guys but others are poised to take on a bigger role and I believe we will have an exciting team that should be able to put up some wins.  I see the other Clubs in the League making a lot of moves and I expect that the games will be hotly contested once again this season.  But for now we will look at some young prospects, guys that we might be interested for this coming season either as signed players or perhaps affiliates."

The Club will open at home on September 9th against the Westshore Wolves and will hit the road the following night when they travel to Campbell River for their first game on the road against the Storm.
