The Peninsula Panthers took a major step forward on Sunday night when they won on the road up in Parksville 2-1 over the Oceanside Generals.  Brady Kelly made the start between the pipes while the Generals countered with Ashton Sadauskas for the important Game 3.  A large crowd flowed out of Oceanside Place in disappointment after the heartbreaking loss to the Cats.  And with this victory, the Peninsula Panthers have taken a 3-0 Best-of-7 series lead in the VIJHL Championship Finals.  The Cats have an opportunity to close out the Oceanside Generals on Monday night back in the friendly confines of the Panorama Recreation Centre and advance to the Cyclone Taylor Cup.

Logan Speirs led the attack scoring on the power play at 9:54 of the 1st period on helpers from Matthew Seale and Kyle Brown.  But it would be Greyson Weme who would knot the score at 1-1 at the 7:08 mark of the 2nd stanza when he beat Panthers' netminder Brady Kelly.  It set the stage for an exciting 3rd period with the two teams deadlocked at 1-1.

And Speirs donned the Superman cape one more time when with only 7:19 left in the contest, he beat Ashton Sadauskas for the winner, with Riley Braun chipping in with the helper.

The Cats battened down the hatches to the final buzzer and then spilled over the wall at their bench to join the Game 3 win celebration at the net with Brady Kelly.

This sets the stage for Monday night at 7:30 p.m. when the Club from the Saanich Peninsula will look to put the final nail in the coffin and punch their way to the British Columbia Jr. B Championship Tournament in Ladner in early April.  A large crowd is expected and the Panthers Organization is asking that fans arrive early Monday night.
