2022-02-27

Micah Zandee-Hart, who cut her teeth in hockey on the Peninsula and who captured Olympic Gold with the Canadian Women\'s Hockey Team, will be addressing the home crowd prior to the 7:30 pm start Monday night.

The Peninsula Panthers will welcome Olympic Women's Gold Medal winner last month in China, Micah Zandee-Hart prior to Game 5 in the Best-of-7 series Monday night at the Panorama Recreation Centre. Zandee-Hart, who played her Minor Hockey at the Peninsula, will address the crowd before dropping puck.

The Westshore Wolves won a heart-stopper 4-3 at the Q Centre Sunday evening to knot the Best-of-7 series 2-2.  The win sets the stage for an all-important Game 5 Monday night at 7:30 in the friendly confines of the Panorama Recreation Centre.

The series has been special thus far and there is obviously going to be a whole lot more entertainment between the two teams but the Panthers will also have a special guest in for Game 5.  Micah Zandee-Hart has only just returned from China after capturing Olympic Gold with the Canadian Women's Hockey Club and she is set to address the crowd at 7:30 pm followed by a ceremonial puck drop at Centre ice between the two Captains.  The Panorama Recreation Centre is no stranger to Zandee-Hart as she spent the majority of her Minor Hockey playing out on the Peninsula.  She is the 2nd player coming out of the Peninsula to capture Gold at the Olympic games, the other being former Panthers player and current Dallas Stars Captain Jamie Benn.

The series between the Panthers and Wolves was expected to go 6 or 7 games and that in fact will be the case.  For all intents and purposes, this Best-of-7 really has boiled down to a Best-of-3.  Game six will go at the Q Centre on Wednesday at 7:00 pm and if a Game 7 is required to produce a winner, it will be played this coming Friday at 7:30 pm at the Panorama.

Buckle up for Monday night.
