With three games remaining in regular season, Cats set Round 1 Best-of-7 playoff schedule

Panthers flood off the bench after winning in overtime in a game earlier this season against the Westshore Wolves.

The Peninsula Panthers have three games left on their VIJHL Regular Season schedule including at home Friday night and Monday afternoon. But they have set the Round 1 Playoff schedule with the Westshore Wolves opening Tuesday night at the Panorama Recreation Centre.

The Peninsula Panthers and Westshore Wolves will begin a long anticipated Best-of-7 playoff series opening up this coming Tuesday evening in the friendly confines of the Panorama Recreation Centre.  The two Clubs have battled nose-to-nose and toes-to-toes all season long and fittingly they will meet once again in this year's post-season in what most hockey pundits believe will be a series matchup that deserves top billing.  Both Clubs have been built strikingly similar with speed and skill and most expect that the matchup will be a protracted one.

"The games between the two Clubs have been highly entertaining and hard-fought," quipped Panthers Owner Pete Zubersky.  "Their group of forwards have created havoc for all comers this season and I expect that this group will play an important part in our series.  We are thrilled to have garnered home-ice advantage in the series and that right certainly did not come to us easily.  We started the season losing our first three games and ten games into the regular season, we sat last in the VIJHL South Division.  But the boys kept believing in themselves and that belief and effort is what enabled our Club to capture 2nd place and ultimately home ice for this upcoming series.  We respect the Wolves very much and know we have drawn an excellent opponent for this initial round of the playoffs.  I expect the series to go close or to the limit, fans will be in for a real treat."

The schedule is as follows:

Game 1:  at Panorama    Tuesday, February 22 @ 7:30 pm
Game 2:  at Q Centre      Wednesday, February 23 @ 7:00 pm
Game 3:  at Panorama    Friday, February 25 @ 7:30 pm
Game 4:  at Q Centre      Sunday, February 27 @ 5:30 pm
Game 5:  at Panorama    Monday, February 28 @ 7:30 pm (if needed)
Game 6:  at Q Centre      Wednesday, March 2 @ 7:00 pm (if needed)
Game 7:  at Panorama    Friday, March 4 at 7:30 pm (if needed)

The Cats will be at the Q Centre on Wednesday night for their final regular season road game before coming back to the Panorama Recreation Centre for a Friday tilt against the Kerry Park Islanders at 7:30 pm, and then a 2:00 pm afternoon affair on Monday when they host the visiting Saanich Predators.  The contest on Monday will be Peninsula Minor Hockey Appreciation where 25 3rd jerseys will be gifted to PMHA players and 5 fans once the game is in the books.  Winners will be brought down to ice level and will be gifted the jerseys right off the backs of the players in a post-game ceremony.
