Skilled winger Tanner Banks might quickly become a fan favourite on the Peninsula. The newly signed 18-year-old has a nose for the net and is as creative as any player on the Club.

Banks on Banks:
"I started playing hockey when I was five and instantly fell in love with the game. I’m grateful to be part of the Panthers team and am extremely excited for this season to start.  I’m confident we will have a very successful season.

We have a strong and talented group of vets which have welcomed us both on and off the ice. I’m fortunate to have many good friends on the team that I grew up playing hockey with.  For the last few years, I’ve been on the same line as Ryan (Grambart) and we’ve developed lots of chemistry so I’m looking forward to continuing playing together with him. The team is already developing a great bond and has an amazing family dynamic.

Our coaches have lots of experience and I’m excited to take in all their advice and input to help advance my game. I’m also fortunate to be able to play hockey while completing my post-secondary education."

Tanner Banks was a known commodity with the Peninsula Panthers Management when he arrived at the Identification Camp in July.  He had been out several times last season and was known as a youngster with a boat load of skill and creativity.  And he showed it in the Camp and then through August."

"Tanner was an extremely hard guy to ignore," explained Pete Zubersky.  "He can skate and can handle the puck.  I remember saying at one session that I wanted him to open it up a bit, show some speed.  He has that too.  He seems like a great kid and fits into the room seemlessly.  But most importantly, wow....what a head of hair!"

Bench Boss Brad Tippett on Banks:
"We had Tanner out to a few practices last season. He was a bubble guy going into camp.  We just patiently watch to see what players can step forward. He  seized the opportunity at the Prospects camp. He has great hands, scoring touch and is very creative. We have watched his play without the puck get better and better. At the camp we tried to unite players who are familiar with each other –Cox/Lyon, Sdrakas/Strom. Tanner had played on a line with Ryan Grambart before, so it was another easy fit. Gilbertson rounds out the line and the trio has already meshed well."

The Panthers are scheduled to open in Victoria against the Cougars a week from today and then will be back next Friday for their home opener in the friendly confines of the Panorama Recreation Centre against the other 'Cats.'.  But it is 2020 and so expect the unexpected.
