Spink and Lingard help lead South All-Stars to a 10-7 win

2019-01-20

Panthers\' Captain Thomas Spink (L) and Alternate Captain Josh Lingard played a big part in the South Division of the VIJHL pulling out a 10-7 All-Star win on Sunday.

Thomas Spink and Josh Lingard headed to Campbell River on Sunday to join the rest of the VIJHL All-Stars for a 4:00 pm start.

The VIJHL All-Star game might have been a no-hitter but bragging rights were still on the line on Sunday in Campbell River when the South Division took on the North Division of the VIJHL.  The South consisted of Peninsula, Saanich, Victoria, Westshore and Kerry Park while the North roster was comprised of players from Nanaimo, Oceanside, Comox and Campbell River.

A great time was had by all participants as well as approximately 400 spectators in attendance.  And when the final buzzer sounded, it would the be South coming out on top by a tally of 10-7.

Representing the Peninsula Panthers were 19-year-old Captain Thomas Spink and 18-year-old Alternate Captain Josh Lingard.  Both had outstanding games and both played prominent roles in the win.

Next Sunday, the Saanich Braves will host the VIJHL Prospects game with the puck set to drop at 3:30 pm.  Lingard and linemate Riley Braun will be suiting up for this affair.
