17-year-old Logan Speirs is entering his 2nd season with the Peninsula Panthers. He played a defensive role last time around but is looking for that role to be expanded in 2018/19.

Logan Speirs was signed by the Panthers last season, one of two 16-year-olds along with Riley Braun.  Speirs was a hard-working centre and was mostly utilized in a checking role and ended up as one of the Club's most dependable penalty killers.  But Speirs has had a great summer and now comes in hungry and looking for a bigger role and is confident that he can perform at a higher level than last year.

Head Coach Brad Tippett on Speirs, "Logan possesses great skills and understanding of the game. However it is relentless determination to compete is sets him apart from most players. As a first year player he searched to find a role he could call his own. Early on there were centers in front of him and he wasn’t seeing as many minutes as he would have liked. To his credit he kept working away and working away until he found a home on the penalty killing units. He teamed up with Jack McMillian to form arguably our top pair until he suffered the season ending injury. I think we will see a lot more offensive production from him as he definitely has moved up the depth chart and will get some PP time. His versatility makes Logan a very useful player to any coach. He  listens and is willing to make the changes to make himself a better player. He has also stepped up in the fall ice time and taken on a leadership role in the dressing room."

Speirs played his minor hockey in the Peninsula Minor Hockey Association and was counted on to score as a first year Midget on a Club that eventually won the Island Division and competed in the Provincials.  He played with other top scorers on that team including Braun, Tanner Wort and Josh Lingard and all four were signed by the Panthers last season.  They will all return this season as veterans on the Panthers and all should produce in a big way.

Speirs has a love of all sports and enjoys life to the fullest.  He has many hobbies and his friends are a huge part of his life as is his supportive family.  The slick forward enjoys video games as do many kids his age however he would rather be involved in activities if given the choice.  He played all his hockey on the Peninsula and was also a part of numerous Spring teams.  His goal was always to play for his hometown Junior Hockey Club, the Peninsula Panthers and that was achieved last summer when he was signed as the youngest player on the Club. Speirs follows the motto, "Train insane or remain the same!"

"Junior B has been has been an amazing time for me so far and I am really looking forward to this season," explained Speirs.  Although still one of the youngest players on the team, one only needs to have watched a bit of the Panthers Camp to realize he has improved over last season.  And perhaps a larger role will be in his future.
