The Peninsula Panthers were prevented from winning their 3rd straight game on Monday evening after being bounced by the Victoria Cougars in the Thanksgiving day tilt.

The Peninsula Panthers could have crept within a single point of South Division leading Kerry Park Islanders and Westshore Wolves with a win over the visiting Victoria Cougars on Thanksgiving Monday evening.  But alas, it was not to be as the Cougars battled and scratched and eventually walked away with a 5-2 victory and the all important two  points.  The Panthers failed in their bid to win their 3rd straight game but even with the loss, they remain a mere 3 points out of the South Division lead.

Both Clubs opened the game strong and although they each had scoring opportunites, Bryce Schiebel in the Panthers net and Patrick Osterman tending the twine for the visiting Cats were both perfect after 20 minutes were firmly in the books.  It was the middle stanza that would be the undoing of the Panthers.  The Cougars played a more physical brand of hockey and banged and crashed at every opportunity and were full value for a 4-2 lead with the two Clubs went to the room for the second intermission.  Carson Cox and Josh Lingard with a goal with only two ticks left in the period were the only Panthers marksmen.  One late tally by the Cougars in the final frame completed the scoring.

The Panthers will practice on Tuesday evening before heading up Island on Thursday night to take on the VIJHL leading Nanaimo Buccaneers.  And next Friday night the "Cats" from the Peninsula will be right back at the Panorama looking to remain undefeated at home when they take on the ever-tough Kerry Park Islanders.  The puck is set to drop at 7:30 pm.
