The Peninsula Panthers have moved '99 Goaltender Shawn Parkinson to the Westshore Wolves to clean up a three-goalie logjam between the pipes.

When Goaltender Justin Anderson was obtained from the Victoria Cougars in a midnight deal on December 1st, it was obvious that something would have to give.  Anderson became the 3rd goaltender on the Peninsula Panthers' roster in addition to Shawn Parkinson and Liam Tutte.  And the corresponding move happened on Monday morning when the Panthers moved two-year veteran Parkinson to the Westshore Wolves in exchange for future considerations.  His playing rights will return to the Panthers at the end of the season.

"We liked Anderson and when the opportunity came up to acquire his rights on December 1st, we decided to make the move," said General Manager Pete Zubersky.  "It was clear to everyone including Anderson, Parkinson and Tutte that there was going to be another move and we did not want to wait until the trading deadline on January 10th.  We wanted to make sure that everyone had a chair when the music stopped and still chase their individual goals and that had a lot to do with this deal.  Shawn will still be able to compete to be a starter and we felt that he deserved to be able to do that as he has been in the league for two years and was a big part of our Club over that time.  We wanted Anderson to be a starter.  For the time being, Tutte will back up Anderson and we hope that he pushes him just a bit.  Liam will get a chance to start three or four games when Justin goes back home for Christmas.  We really felt that this result was the best possible one for all three guys including Shawn.  Again, it was important to us to make it work for all three, they are awesome kids and all three deserved that respect.  Shawn has been a great individual both on and off the ice while with our Club and I think this change in scenery might give him a jump start.  We would love to see that happen.  We wish Shawn the best of luck this season and beyond.  He has lofty goals and we would love to see him attain them."

The Panthers play the Wolves this Wednesday night in Colwood before taking their Christmas Break.  The Club will open up at home after the break on Wednesday night, December 28th when they host the Kerry Park Islanders and will then be right back at the Panorama two nights later when the Wolves come onto the Peninsula on Friday, December 30th.
