Peninsula Panthers Junior Hockey Club Awards Banquet details finalized.

The Peninsula Panthers have a single game left in the Regular Season and it will be this coming Friday when the Oceanside Generals come marching in.  The Club has set a torrid pace over the 2nd half of the Regular Season, pushing hard to nail down 2nd place in the VIJHL Southern Division and have put themselves into a position where they now have their fate in their own hands.

"This past week could not have played out any better," explained General Manager Pete Zubersky.  "The two teams we are locked in a battle with, both lost two games while we won a couple and it put us in fantastic shape coming into the last week of the season.  The Kerry Park Islanders really have a tough schedule and the best the Westshore Wolves could do is tie us in the standings and we have the tie-breaker so we are pretty pleased the way things sit at this point."

Current Standings for 2nd place;

Panthers:  48 points
Wolves:     46 points
Islanders:  44 points

Games Remaining;

Panthers @ home on Friday vs. Generals
Wolves @ home Wednesday vs. Braves
Islanders @ Cougars Thursday, @ home vs. Bucs Saturday.

"If we are fortunate enough to garner 2nd place, we plan to open at home on Monday evening, February 22nd at 7:30 pm," said Zubersky.  "We would obviously be up against either the Islanders or Wolves and with all three teams being so close, I would imagine it will be a long series.  Some chips still have to fall in place for us but if the other two Clubs win both their games this week, we are still in control of our own destiny and would need only a single point on Friday night to pull it off."  The puck is set to drop at the Panorama Recreation Centre at 7:30 pm.

The Club will host their annual Awards Banquet on this Saturday evening at the Glen Meadows Golf and Country Club on McTavish Road in North Saanich, B.C.  Family, friends and fans are all welcome and can obtain tickets at the Panthers game on Friday night at the ticketing table or by calling Coreen at (250) 652-1804.  The Club is trying to nail down final numbers for the dinner and are asking that you indicate a desire to attend sooner rather than later.
