Peninsula Minor Hockey Association Appreciation Game features giveaway 3rd Jersey on Friday.

2015-02-10

Last season the Peninsula Panthers gifted 23 game-worn jerseys to lucky PMHA winners. The winners and the Panthers players from last season are pictured. This Friday they will do it all over again in an on-ice ceremony after the game against the Kerry Park Islanders (Gordon Lee Photo)

The Kerry Park Islanders will be the competition on Friday for the annual PMHA appreciation game. After the completion of the game, an on-ice ceremony will see 23 lucky PMHA players gifted the game-worn 3rd Jersey used during the contest.

The Peninsula Panthers will welcome in the Kerry Park Islanders to the friendly confines of the Panorama Recreation Centre this Friday evening at 7:30 pm; the final regular season game of the season.  And then on Monday night, the Club will host the Oceanside Generals in a one-game sudden-death affair, with the winner advancing to Round 1 of the VIJHL playoffs against the Campbell River Storm.

On Friday, all Peninsula Minor Hockey Association players and coaches will be admitted at no charge into the Panthers game and teams are encouraged to wear their jerseys and sit together.  A full house is expected.  After the 1st intermission, the Panthers will join the crowd in the lobby of the Arena and will sign autographs for the fans in attendance.  For those who do not have a Panthers' program, one will be gifted during the break.

After the completion of the game, the Panthers will remain on the ice and a draw will take place in front of the crowd.  23 PMHA players names will be drawn; the player will have to be in attendance to win a jersey.  The winners will come down onto the ice and will walk out of the arena on the night with a game-worn Peninsula Panthers 3rd jersey.

Friday's jersey is much like the Dallas Stars dark version where two Peninsula players now play - Jamie and Jordie Benn.  Both played in the PMHA and then went on to play for the Panthers.  Instead of the large "D" as the logo, a large "P" will dominate the jersey to signify the Peninsula.  On one shoulder will be the logo of the Peninsula Panthers and on the other shoulder will be the logo of the Peninsula Eagles.

Please join us on the evening, it will be a great game and a great evening for everyone in what will prove to be a packed arena.  Once again, the puck drops at 7:30 pm on Friday night.
